'Among the best in the world': Kalidou Koulibaly now raves about player Chelsea are reportedly trying to sign
Former Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly was full of praise for potential transfer target Victor Osimhen.
He told Corriere dello Sport however that he believed the striker should look to remain at Napoli for next season.
Osimhen finished last season as the top scorer in Serie A, as he fired his club to the title for the first time in a while.
Unsurprisingly, he has been the talk of the market for any sides potentially looking to add a striker to their ranks this summer.
Chelsea are one of the clubs who fit this profile, after struggling for goals throughout the entire last season.
His abilities have already been given the seal of approval by Koulibaly, who labelled him as one of the best in the world.
He said: “Victor is an important player, among the best in the world. Gennaro Gattuso helped him, Luciano Spalletti was a turning point for him and now he needs nobody.
Koulibaly praises Osimhen
“He must feel free to choose without listening to anyone else. That’s the only way not to have regrets.
“Napoli are favourites because they won the Serie A title with a big margin, everyone will be waiting for them and everyone will make new signings.
“Serie A is improving and the three European finalists showed it. It takes time when you change coach, but Rudi Garcia knows the Italian league well.
“It’s a great challenge for him and he can do great things even if it all depends on the market.”
The Blues have remained interest in signing the Nigerian despite being quoted what would be a price tag of £150m to get the deal over the line.
They have reportedly kept their options open though, shown by the fact they are about to announce the addition of Nicolas Jackson.
