Fabrizio Romano shares whether Chelsea could sign Eden Hazard after he's released by Real Madrid
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea are not going to be making any efforts to sign Eden Hazard this summer.
He has said on YouTube that the Blues are working on other areas to strengthen despite the obvious feel good factor that would come with a return of a club legend.
This weekend saw Hazard released from Real Madrid, bringing an end to arguably one of the worst transfers in football history considering the promise it had.
It has only got more expensive for the La Liga side over the years too, with every trophy being won seeing more money come Chelsea’s way.
Minutes have been at a premium for the Belgian for a number of seasons now, a situation which seemed unfathomable when he was in the conversation for the best player in the world outside of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Chelsea and Eden Hazard
This left him lacking match fitness when captaining his country at the World Cup last year, and they were unceremoniously dumped out at the first hurdle.
He soon retired from the international game, however now finds himself without a club too.
Romano has claimed that despite the easy nature that surrounds striking a deal for Hazard, it is not currently in Chelsea’s plans to do so.
He said: “Chelsea are not working on the return of Eden Hazard, they have different ideas even though many Chelsea fans are dreaming of a return.”
The club at this stage seem to be prioritising the signing of a midfielder, although they are somewhat back to the drawing board after missing out on the signing of Manuel Ugarte.
It has been claimed that they may now step up their efforts to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton, after always naming him as a target for the future.
