Mauricio Pochettino wants to work with 21-year-old Chelsea striker Romano

Fabrizio Romano has reported that new Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino wants to work with Armando Broja in pre-season.

The Italian journalist has claimed on Twitter that Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to see how striker Armando Broja does in pre-season training.

Romano has reported that Chelsea and Brighton and Hove Albion have not discussed the prospect of the 21-year-old Albania international striker being included in a deal involving Moises Caicedo.

Earlier this month, The Times reported that West Ham United manager David Moyes “likes Broja for his strength in pressing and tried to sign him last summer”.

The report claimed that the Hammers could try to sign the youngster in the summer of 2023.

What should Chelsea and Mauricio Pochettino do about Armando Broja?

In our view, Chelsea should not sell Armando Broja in the summer transfer window.

We believe that the Blues need to give the striker time to get back to full match fitness.

Pochettino has to work with the Albanian youngster in pre-season and then see how he does in competitive games.

Chelsea have to keep Broja in the first-team squad for next season.

Now, of course, we know that Chelsea are on the hunt for a top-quality striker.

And it is unlikely that Pochettino will see Broja as his main number nine even if he impresses him in pre-season.

Broja ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament and has been on the sidelines since December 2022.

And he is only 21.

But, the striker also needs to take the chances that he will get under Pochettino.
