Rafael Leao now reacts to the news that Ruben Loftus-Cheek is leaving Chelsea to join him

AC Milan winger Rafael Leao is delighted by the news that Ruben Loftus-Cheek is set to join him at AC Milan.

He replied to Fabrizio Romano’s Instagram post showing his approval that the Chelsea man will be linking up with him at the San Siro next season.

It was reported yesterday that a fee has been agreed between the two clubs for the sale of Loftus-Cheek in the coming days.

It had been feared that interest was beginning to slip from the Serie A side, as they were busy dealing with internal issues regarding their board.

However, they returned with a strong enough offer to allow Chelsea to accept, and the deal is now set to be confirmed.

One person who is delighted with the news is Leao, who has recently himself signed a new deal to extend his time in the Italian capital.

The Portugal international has previously been strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, although that speculation looks like it will be put to bed for now.

Last season will probably go down as a positive one personally for the England international in West London, despite the club languishing in 12th position.

He secured himself a lot of minutes under Graham Potter, with not all of them coming in the central midfield role.

With Reece James’ ongoing injury issues, the Blues looked to replicate his attacking prowess in that position.

They weren’t getting what they wanted from club captain Cesar Azpilicueta, who is also set to be on the move to the other side of Milan this summer.

Loftus-Cheek did his best to fill this role, and despite the results not always coming he showed his personal ability and versatility on the biggest stage.
