'They want something different': Chelsea form unusual tactic to sign 80m player pushing now - Romano
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea are going to use an unusual tactic in order to sign Moises Caicedo this summer.
He stated in his YouTube video that negotiations will take place with verbal conversations as appose to official bids being rejected and improved.
The Blues have honed in on Caicedo as their number one target to strengthen the midfield this summer, with the position short on numbers right now.
Both N’golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic have secured their moves away from Stamford Bridge, with both being important players when fit.
The club have been very impressed with Enzo Fernandez since he joined in January, although they know they need to find a suitable partner for him.
The price will not be cheap however. It has been quoted that it will be at least £80m to sign him this summer.
Chelsea trying new tactic for Caicedo
With Chelsea knowing what to expect from negotiations with a side like Brighton, Romano has claimed they are interested in a new approach to get this deal over the line.
He said: “Chelsea will now focus on Moises Caicedo. There will be direct talks between Chelsea and Brighton so it will not be a traditional situation in terms of sending an official bid and then you reply. They want something different.
“They want a direct contact with Brighton. Of course, Chelsea will bid but it will be more verbal conversation than just bid and answer. It will be more positive conversations.
“Let’s see how the negotiation will go, it’s always tough with Brighton. But Chelsea will be on it. In the next days they will go for Caicedo. Manchester United never entered this race.
“We heard this on Sunday and Saturday, but it was never reality. The only club actively working on Caicedo is Chelsea.”
With Mason Mount now confirmed to be on the move, the club will need to now get on with bringing players in to prepare for next season.
