Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea are set to complete the sale of Kai Havertz to Arsenal this week.
He took to Twitter to state that the Germany international has already completed the first part of his medical to see him make the switch to North London.
It looks as if Havertz’s Chelsea career is going to be coming to an end, with him leaving his name in history after scoring the only goal of the 2021 Champions League final.
Looking past that moment though, it has been an underwhelming time at Stamford Bridge for the 24-year-old, despite being a regular in the side.
He spent the majority of the last campaign leading the line, however failed to impress as a regular goalscorer in what was a dire campaign all round for the club.
With hardly any players seen as untouchable this summer in West London, the Blues were willing to listen to offers for Havertz this summer.
Havertz to be sold this week
Arsenal have now seemingly won the race, with Romano claiming the deal is expected to be completed at some stage this week.
He said: “Kai Havertz has already completed first part of the medical tests as new Arsenal player. Just waiting for the contracts to be signed on club side.
“Deal from Chelsea will be completed this week.”
The fee being paid by the Gunners is certainly not something Chelsea will be disappointed by, especially after the large transfer sum they spent on bringing him in back in 2020.
The Germany international’s sale will closely follow a number of first team players leaving the club, many heading to Saudi Arabia.
Yesterday it was announced that Kalidou Koulibaly had departed the club after only a year in the Premier League.
