Two players sold by Chelsea now included in the Champions League Team of the Season
The Champions League was a competition that held Chelsea’s fading hopes of rescuing success from this season for the longest time.
With them already out of the race to qualify for the competition next year, they know their only route back was to win the whole thing, notably exclaimed by Graham Potter at a fan Q&A during his time in charge.
They pulled out their performance of the season to turn things around against Borussia Dortmund in the Round of 16, however the challenge of Real Madrid was one step too far.

After Manchester City’s triumph at the weekend, the annual team of the campaign was announced by UEFA.
Chelsea fans will be more than familiar with a couple of names on the list, particularly Thibaut Courtois and Kevin de Bruyne.
Both players left Stamford Bridge at various times for various reasons, however both have seen their careers prosper in the time since they left the club.
De Bruyne and Courtois in Champions League Team of the Season
Courtois is widely recognised now as the best goalkeeper in the world following a number of sensational years at Real Madrid, where he has added the Champions League to his trophy cabinet.
De Bruyne suffered individual heartache midway through the final as he was forced off injured, in a not too dissimilar way to how he was after a collision with Antonio Rudiger.

However, this time the final ended with them lifting the trophy.
The Blues being unable to offer Champions League football to any new signings this summer could see them at a disadvantage when it comes to convincing them Stamford Bridge is the place to be.
One of these players may be Victor Osimhen, who recently fired Napoli to Serie A glory last season but may not give up European football to move to Chelsea yet.
