Wesley Fofana now gives wordless response on social media to Christopher Nkunku joining Chelsea
Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has now reacted to the news that Christopher Nkunku has joined the club.
He took to Twitter to issue a smiley emoji, followed by two flame emojis, in response to the news that the long-awaited transfer to Stamford Bridge.
It has been widely expected for months that Nkunku would be moving to Chelsea ahead of next season, after the club missed out on the signing 12 months ago.
Despite injuries this year, the Frenchman impressed greatly when he was fit, still finishing as the Bundesliga top scorer.
His versatility is certainly something which fans will be excited about, with it so far unknown which formation and system Mauricio Pochettino utilises at the club.
Fofana welcomes Nkunku
He did miss the World Cup with France, a similar fate met by Fofana after his injury at the time.
The defender has also been suffering with injury problems in his first season after his own big move to West London.
However, the end of the season did see him manage to put together a number of appearances to finally trying and prove his worth on a regular basis.
Supporters will now be hoping the announcement of Nkunku kickstarts the club’s transfer activity for the summer, with another few additions needed to help them return to the top end of the table.
Despite his goalscoring ability, the Blues still need to sign a natural number nine to try and solve the real lack of goals that have been a trend at Stamford Bridge over the last couple of seasons.
There have been links to Napoli striker Victor Osimhen after his dominant season in Italy, however Chelsea are safe in the knowledge that the addition would likely see them break their transfer record for the second consecutive window.
