‘Edging closer’: Chelsea are now finally moving towards signing ‘fantastic’ player – journalist
Journalist Paul Brown has claimed that Chelsea are now finally approaching confirming a deal to sign Moises Caicedo this summer.
He told GiveMeSport that the deal is the clubs to lose, however there is still a lot of negotiating to do with Brighton.
Caicedo is beginning to drag on as a transfer saga this summer, and that will not be seen as good news for Chelsea.
The club will have been hoping to have this all wrapped up before they began their pre-season tour of the USA, and have the ‘fantastic’ player part of their squad.
However, they have now been out there for a couple of days as they prepare for their first friendly match tonight against Wrexham.
It will be Mauricio Pochettino’s first opportunity to see what quality he has got in his squad, and who he needs to bring in to help him compete at the top level again.
Chelsea edging towards Caicedo
One player he reportedly already sees in this mould is the Ecuador international, and their interest in signing him has not been difficult to see.
Now, Brown has claimed that the Blues are finally moving in the right direction towards completing a deal.
He said: “It probably is Chelsea’s to lose, this transfer. He is very expensive. I think they’re edging closer towards agreeing a fee for him.
“But, at the moment, Brighton expect him to be in their squad for their pre-season tour. It doesn’t feel like there’s about to be a breakthrough on this one. I think there’s still quite a lot of negotiating to do.”
There will no doubt be a desire to get the deal done as soon as possible in order to integrate the 21-year-old to their squad.
It has been claimed that a face-to-face meeting in the coming week could help things move towards a finish.
