On Monday: Fabrizio Romano claims unbelievable Chelsea player is having his medical to leave today

Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is set to undergo his medical at Manchester United today.

He took to Twitter to state that the deal has reached the final stage before both parties can announce it as official.

The last week or so has been crucial for the Mount deal, with him pushing personally for a move away from Stamford Bridge.

This is despite reports that a more than decent wage offer has been on the table for a while for the England international.

The Blues originally rejected three bids from United to try and sign him, with their valuation of him remaining high.

However, of course there is only a year left on his deal in West London, and the fact he is not willing to resign suggests that they could have been preparing to lose him for free.

Mount medical today

Eventually, the two parties came to an agreement on a deal, and Romano has claimed the player previously described as ‘unbelievable’ is now set to undergo a medical with his potential new club.

He said: “Mason Mount will undergo medical tests on Monday and then he’s finally gonna sign five year deal as new Manchester United player.

“Contract until June 2028 — it will also include an option to extend until June 2029.“£55m plus £5m to Chelsea. Statement this week.”

The announcement is no doubt going to divide the fanbase, with some looking to point their fingers of blame towards the new ownership model at Stamford Bridge.

However, there will be some that look towards the player for his lack of loyalty, and not be looking forward to seeing him return to the club next season.
