‘Out of this world’: Todd Boehly is fascinated by the idea of Chelsea signing ‘special’ player – journalist

Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Todd Boehly is fascinated by the idea of Chelsea signing Neymar this summer.

He told GiveMeSport that Chelsea’s reported interest in the signing is not the first time they have hoped to pull off this deal.

It has been claimed over the last week that the Blues remain one of the only sides who could pull off a deal for Neymar.

Reports stated that they were waiting in the wings to make their move if it became clear that he wanted out from PSG.

There is no doubt about his ability, and this is a fact known well by current manager Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine described him as ‘special’ following their time working together at the Ligue 1 club.

Boehly wants Neymar

Now, Jones has claimed that Boehly is itching to complete a deal of the calibre of a player like Neymar.

He said: “Neymar to Chelsea is like an itch they can’t resist scratching. This isn’t the first time the story has been out there and they would love to go there, I’m convinced of that, but he’s one of those players that is genuinely so hard to sign.

“The salary that comes with Neymar is out of this world and at a time when Chelsea are not in Europe, it’s an extremely difficult time to pull something like this off.

“Boehly has a slight fascination with celebrities, we saw that when he became indulged in the idea of signing Cristiano Ronaldo.”

It is undoubtable that Neymar would strengthen a key position on the pitch for the Blues. However, it has to be believed that there are more important roles for the side to sign players in, such as centre midfield this summer.
