Report: 23-year-old currently most likely to start alongside Enzo Fernandez in Chelsea's midfield next season
Reports have claimed that Conor Gallagher is currently the most likely candidate to start in midfield for Chelsea next season.
According to the Mail Online, the 23-year-old is at this stage the one who may be trusted to partner Enzo Fernandez in midfield when the upcoming campaign gets underway.
Despite plenty of reports, it looks likely now that Gallagher will be remaining at Stamford Bridge this summer.

Many will have expected him to be one of the first names out the door based on the potential transfer value he has.
Big offers were made back in January for his services, and he would certainly be of interest to the majority of sides in the Premier League.
Discussions are already underway for who will be featuring for the club next season, particularly the starting 11 that Mauricio Pochettino decides to pick for the opening game against Liverpool.
Gallagher likely to partner Fernandez
One name who will certainly be on the teamsheet barring injury is Enzo Fernandez. The World Cup winner started every single game after joining the club.
However, it could be Gallagher who is lining up alongside him at the beginning of the campaign.
It has previously been claimed that Pochettino is a big fan of the England international, and wants him to stay at the club going into next season.

Him starting will likely depend on Chelsea’s transfer activity this summer, and if they are able to secure a deal for Moises Caicedo.
The Blues have reportedly made the Brighton man their number one target for this summer, and have nearly agreed personal terms with the player.
However, they will still have to negotiate with Brighton, who are notoriously difficult to get a good deal out of.
