Report: Chelsea struggling to sign 'unbelievable' player this summer, after what Todd Boehly did seven months ago
Reports have claimed that Chelsea are struggling to agree a deal for Moises Caicedo this summer.
According to The Athletic, the price they ended up paying for Enzo Fernandez back in January has left them with an inflated market for midfielders right now.
Chelsea made Fernandez the most expensive midfielder in football history on deadline day of the last transfer window, after a full month of fierce negotiations with Benfica.

Despite the dismal campaign as a whole for the club, the World Cup winner’s instant ability to show his skills was a rare positive in West London.
Everyone at the club has been very impressed with him too. However, they have noted he can do even more if he is given a suitable partner to play with in midfield.
Fernandez not helping with Caicedo deal
This is where the obsession over signing Caicedo has come from, with it being decided that his skillset is the perfect compliment to the Argentine’s.
A deal is not proving easy to pull off right now though, even if it has been claimed that the young midfielder is Mauricio Pochettino’s first choice transfer target right now.
He certainly showed his quality last season. He was named Brighton’s player of the season, whilst being described as ‘unbelievable’ by Chris Sutton too.

However, Chelsea may be being punished inadvertently for their free spending ways over the last 12 months, and this could even potentially force them to walk away from this move.
If they do, it is likely that they enter the market for Romeo Lavia, who recently suffered relegation with Southampton to the second tier.
However, the Saints are not willing to let him go cheap, which has seen him resume pre-season with his current side.
