Report: 'Fantastic' Chelsea player worked with a personal trainer during his summer break before pre-season
Chelsea star Reece James worked with a personal trainer during his summer break before turning up for pre-season.
That is according to a report from The Athletic.
They claim that Reece James flew out to Dubai shortly after the 2022/23 season finished, which unfortunately for him ended with time on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.
It is understood that the 23-year-old Blues defender start warm-weather training during his holiday, which included working with a personal trainer to increase intensity as he comes back from his injury problem.
The report claims that the England international has been working in preparation for pre-season with Mauricio Pochettino, and his hard work in the off-season hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Pochettino has been enjoying his first few days as Chelsea’s head coach, overseeing the first week of pre-season with his squad of players.
James has been pictured alongside other first-team stars training with the new manager at Cobham. There’s been several young talents spotted in training images, too.
The Blues will soon fly out to the United States for their pre-season tour, which includes five friendly games as they prepare for the new campaign.
We’re expecting and hopeful that James is going to play a key role in the new Pochettino era.
If he can stay injury-free, the right-back should be pivotal.
Speaking on ‘The Kelly and Wrighty show’ back in February, Ian Wright described James as a “fantastic” player who’s got everything to his game as a modern full-back.
We’ve seen numerous times that he can be the best player on the pitch when he’s fit and firing, but you can’t help worry about the numerous injury setbacks he’s had his career so far.
It’s refreshing to hear he’s going the extra mile this summer to prepare himself for next season.
