Sign him: Dean Saunders pleads for Liverpool to bring in sublime Chelsea player this summer

Pundit Dean Saunders has claimed that Liverpool should go all out to sign Reece James this summer.

He claimed on TalkSPORT (3/7 7:23am) that the Reds will improve greatly if they are able to bring in a fit and firing version of the England international.

When at 100%, it is undoubted that James is one of the best defenders in the league, and is able to walk into near enough any team in the Premier League.

However, unfortunately for Chelsea this was not so common last season, and he missed large periods of the campaign due to injuries.

This was the same issue that plagued Ben Chilwell too, and their absences made things very difficult for the club to fulfil.

His brilliance has not gone unnoticed by pundits either, with him being described in late 2022 as ‘sublime’.

Now though, Saunders has claimed Liverpool should go out of their way to try and convince him to make the move from Stamford Bridge.

He said: “I think maybe they need another centre-back. Sign Reece James from Chelsea. Sign him, if he can stay fit he’s a great player.”

Clubs like the Reds will perhaps be looking at other situations that have arisen this summer as a reason why they believe they could get a deal done.

Despite looking as if he was going to establish himself as a future Chelsea legend, Mason Mount is now set to be on the move to Manchester United.

However, James’ statement on Twitter just a few hours after it became clear the 24-year-old would be on the move saying he would never leave the club for rivals Arsenal, he may be one of the players that just can’t be convinced to leave.
