What Mason Mount will do today before leaving Chelsea for Manchester United
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Mason Mount is set to share a goodbye message to Chelsea supporters before he confirms his move to Manchester United.
He took to Twitter to state that the medical has been successfully completed by the 24-year-old, and he will become the Red Devils’ first summer addition.
Chelsea fans have begun to imagine life without Mount at Stamford Bridge, a fate which looked unimaginable just 12 months ago.
However, it has been a year of poor form that has not been helped by his reported attitude off the pitch towards offers of a contract extension.
This has ultimately seen his relationship with the ownership completely deteriorate, and he has personally lobbied for a move away from his boyhood club.
Originally, Liverpool were seen as the favourites for a move, and he reportedly favoured playing for Jurgen Klopp before Erik ten Hag’s interest helped them become the leading candidate.
Now, he is set to sign momentarily for the Old Trafford side, with Romano stating he is planning to say his goodbyes to Chelsea supporters on social media before this happens.
He said: “Mason Mount’s medical was fine and successfully completed — waiting for Manchester United announcement.
“Mount’s expected to share his ‘goodbye’ message to Chelsea — then Manchester United will unveil Mount as their first summer signing.”
There will be a large section of the fanbase who will not be particularly bothered what the midfielder has to say, given the ugly nature that the exit of an academy graduate has taken.
The Blues will likely feature Christopher Nkunku in the position that Mount would have played in, and he seems to already have the backing of new manager Mauricio Pochettino.
This can be shown by the fact that he was not keen for Joao Felix to become a permanent member of the squad.
