Cesc Fabregas thinks Chelsea have signed a quality player this summer in Moises Caicedo.
The Blues coughed up a British-record transfer fee worth £115million (Sky Sports) this summer to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton, so there’s big expectation on him to hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge.
He’s an all-action midfielder with an incredible engine and ball-playing qualities. Can the 21-year-old now deal with the added pressure on his shoulders, though?
Despite a shaky Chelsea debut earlier this month against West Ham, Caicedo impressed in last Friday night’s victory at home to Luton Town.
Fabregas has delivered a glowing verdict on Chelsea’s No 25 when discussing his former club.
“Moises Caicedo is a top player. He is strong and with quality, having been coached by a top manager like Roberto De Zerbi,” Fabregas told Sky Sports.
Fabregas is one of the top central midfielders to ever play in Chelsea colours, so it’s the sort of compliment any current player should cherish.
Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino recently said Caicedo reminds him of N’Golo Kante, as quote by Sky Sports.
In fairness, the kind of performances he was putting in for Brighton last year were very reminiscent of Kante in terms of covering the pitch with such aggression and quality.
Now, we can’t wait to see how a new-look Chelsea midfield takes shape with Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez at the very heart of it. Will Romeo Lavia or Conor Gallagher join them on a permanent basis to make a settled trio?
