Gabby Agbonlahor predicts who will finish higher this season – Chelsea or Liverpool
Gabby Agbonlahor has claimed that he believes it is going to be close between where Chelsea and Liverpool finish in the Premier League next season.
He told TalkSPORT though that he believes Jurgen Klopp’s men will just pip the Blues in terms or final position.
Supporters will get a first glance at how these two are going to do next season on the opening weekend, when they meet at Stamford Bridge.
There is a lot of uncertainty over who will feature for either side on the day, with most of that coming from their own recent transfer activity.
Last night saw Chelsea submit a bid to sign Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia. While this has now been rejected, it exceeded the fee that Liverpool were willing to offer at this stage.
Agbonlahor predicts Liverpool above Chelsea
It seems like Liverpool answered this by making their interest in Moises Caicedo a bit more concrete, with claims that they have now had their own bid for him rejected.
While it has been claimed by Brighton that they have not actually received an official bid, there is definitely something brewing between both sides for both players.
With that being said, and the fact they face off this weekend, Agbonlahor was asked who he sees finishing higher in the Premier League next season.
He said: “I think it will be close, but with Liverpool’s front five that they’ve got available I’m going to go Liverpool above Chelsea. Chelsea are still a work in progress. They’re still in fifth!”
Mauricio Pochettino has the chance to make a statement with what is likely to be an extremely young squad at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, before hopefully adding reinforcements before the window closes.
