Report: Chelsea have already told Cole Palmer the two positions where they want him to play at Stamford Bridge

Reports have claimed that Chelsea have now told Cole Palmer what position they see him playing in for them this season.

According to The Telegraph, the Blues are planning for their next summer signing to compete for minutes both on the right-hand-side as well as in the Number 10 role.

While Chelsea were in action yesterday, the majority of the headlines surrounding them were revolving around Palmer.

Seemingly out of nowhere, the Blues had made him their number one target as a signing to end this summer.

It has been widely claimed that they are looking to bring in an attacking profile before the window comes to a close on Friday.

It quickly emerged that they were prioritising the Manchester City youngster for the role, despite a number of other promising names being linked with the club.

Palmer told his new position

These included Arsenal’s Emile Smith Rowe and Barcelona man Ansu Fati, who now looks set for a loan spell at Brighton.

Given the fact that they have already presented their project to Palmer, it is easy to believe that this is the case. This demonstration reportedly stated that they saw him featuring in two positions for them.

One of those is the right wing, where he predominantly got his minutes for Manchester City. The other would be the Number 10 role, where Chelsea are currently plagued with injuries.

Mauricio Pochettino will have been planning to go into this season with Christopher Nkunku filling that role, however he suffered an injury in the final pre-season game that has pushed back his competitive debut for the club.

The campaign began with Carney Chukwuemeka in the position. Just minutes after he scored his first goal for the club though, he was forced off with a knee injury himself.

This provides a sensational opportunity for Palmer to make an early impact for his new team, and show that quality on a more regular basis.
