‘Something big’: Todd Boehly may go and sign ‘perfect’ attacker after Christopher Nkunku’s injury – journalist
Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Todd Boehly may now push to sign Neymar for Chelsea.
He told GiveMeSport that the injury recently suffered by Christopher Nkunku could see him make a huge move late in the window.
Extraordinary reports this week have claimed that Neymar is pushing to leave PSG now, as they go under wholesale change.
Lionel Messi is already in the MLS, and Kylian Mbappe is out of the first team amid reports that Chelsea could be a landing spot for him too.
The Brazil international’s quality is obvious to see. He was described by ESPN as a ‘perfect’ player.
It has been claimed that the player’s camp has been in constant contact with the Blues if a deal ever came to fruition.
Boehly may now sign Neymar
Now, Jones believes Boehly could be tempted to launch a move now Nkunku is set to miss numerous months.
He said: “The injury to Nkunku is definitely a blow because he’s one of the few sources of goals they have right now.
“If Nkunku was just out for a few weeks, I don’t think it would be a big upset, but the fact we might not be seeing him until the new year is a major blow to Chelsea. They’ve barely bought any experienced players recently, and he was one of the few they would have had confidence in performing well in the early weeks.
“It’s a moment like this that makes me think Chelsea might yet do something mad in the transfer market. We know Todd Boehly has a temptation to go for big stars, so it would not surprise me if he decided to do something big and go for Neymar or someone like that, but let’s see.”
Boehly has certainly been keen for a big name to come through the doors at Stamford Bridge.
This was on full display last summer when he pushed hard for the club to bring in Cristiano Ronaldo.
