23-year-old who left Chelsea this summer now scores stunning goal on international duty

Former Chelsea attacker Joao Felix put himself back amongst the headlines with a sensational goal for Portugal last night against Luxembourg.

The current Barcelona star put the finishing touches on what turned out to be a 9-0 win as part of their European Championship qualifying campaign.

Felix finally got a resolution to his future late in the window when he joined the La Liga champions on loan from Atletico Madrid.

It has since emerged that the player took a huge cut in his wages in order to get the deal over the line, as it looked a real possibility he could be set for a season on the bench.

There was certainly a chance his loan at Chelsea could have either been extended or turned into a permanent move this summer. However, it seems Mauricio Pochettino was not convinced by that idea.

The 23-year-old seemed to take last night against the footballing minnows to remind everyone exactly what he is capable of, after struggling to stand out in a diabolical Chelsea team last season.

He picked the ball up on the edge of the box before firing a fierce effort past the goalkeeper to cap off a memorable night for the Portuguese National team.

It remains to be seen what role he will play for Barcelona this season, and if he will be considered good enough to start as they look to defend the Spanish league title.

As for Chelsea, they added to their attacking reinforcements late in the window with the signing of Cole Palmer on deadline day, who has already shown what he can do on his debut off the bench.
