'5/10', 'Struggled', 'Finding his way': Local media reacts to 20-year-old Chelsea loanee's display last night

Chelsea loanee Mason Burstow was in action again last night for Sunderland during their impressive win against Blackburn Rovers.

Mason Burstow, 20, started back-to-back games for Sunderland by playing in Wednesday night’s 3-1 away victory against Blackburn in the Championship.

The Blues loanee is still yet to get off the mark in the goalscoring department, but he’s slotted straight into the XI for Tony Mowbray’s side.

Hopefully, the youngster will find in the magic touch in front of goal as he settles in his new environment.

Local media delivered a critical assessment of Burstow’s midweek performance for Sunderland/

The Sunderland Echo wrote: “Mason Burstow. Struggled to get into it at first but showed some real flashes of quality on the ball at certain times. Still finding his way into the side and the division but definite progress. 5/10.”

The Chronicle wrote: “Mason Burstow, 7/10. No lack of effort and lasted just over an hour, but still looks short of match sharpness.”

Burstow is going to feel a lot better about himself once he gets that first goal in Sunderland colours.

We’re pretty confident that the English centre-forward is going to be a big hit in the Championship this season, especially now he’s playing for a team that are looking like potential candidates.

Sunderland are the joint-highest scorers in the league right now, so Burstow should be licking his lips about what he can achieve once he’s fully integrated with his teammates.
