£52m player now posts on Instagram after swapping shirts with ‘fantastic’ Chelsea player last night

PSG and Uruguay midfielder Manuel Ugarte has taken to social media to praise Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo.

He took to Instagram to praise the Blues man after their two countries matched up in a World Cup 2026 qualifier last night.

Ecuador were the victors 2-1 over Marcelo Bielsa’s side last night as they got their first points in this qualification campaign.

When looking at the game, there was a real Chelsea flavour to the victory for the home side. Caicedo picked up the assist for the opening goal that got them back level.

However, it was the historical performance of youngster Kendry Paez that captured all the headlines. At 16, he was the second youngest South American to feature for his country at senior level.

He then broke the record for the youngest to register an assist, with him beating the record set by Pele.

There was a point where it looked like Caicedo would not be part of the midfield for Chelsea this season.

This is because early in the window, they were strongly linked with the signing of Ugarte from Sporting Lisbon at the time.

He seemed to show a preference to joining the London club too, however PSG blew them out the water with personal terms involved in their £52m deal.

Now though, it seems he is a bigger fan of Caicedo, as he posted a story praising the 22-year-old for his display after they swapped shirts.

Chelsea fans will now be hoping that he brings some of that form back to his club, as he looks to live up to the expectations of being their most expensive signing ever.
