£58m Chelsea player has just got injured in training, could be a muscle tear - journalist

Journalist Sacha Tavolieri has claimed that Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia has just picked up an injury while training with the club.

He took to Twitter to state that the midfielder could well have torn a muscle in his leg, which would make things difficult to imagine he would be returning soon.

Lavia is yet to play for Chelsea yet since making his £58m move from Southampton late in the transfer window. He hasn’t actually been named in the matchday squad yet either.

Instead, he has only been spotted in the stands, with him pictured alongside Todd Boehly for the first home game after he joined the club.

With his, he remained at Stamford Bridge for the international break, where the plan was to get him up to speed in order to be in a position where he could feature for the first team when they return.

However, this plan may now have just taken a backwards step as it seems he could have suffered a setback in training.

Tavolieri has claimed that he has picked up an injury, hinting it could be a tear in a muscle.

He said: “Romeo Lavia just got injured at training session today with Chelsea. Could be a muscle tear at the ankle… More to follow.”

Supporters will have been excited to see the trio of Lavia, Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez all feature together at some stage soon.

However, it looks as if that midfield is going to have to wait for some time yet.
