Chelsea fans may not like what Enzo Fernandez has posted after Argentina game last night – opinion

Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has now been full of praise for Argentinian teammate Cristian Romero.

He took to Instagram to describe the Tottenham man as the best central defender in world football, an opinion that may not go down too well with some sections of the Chelsea fanbase.

Fernandez was part of the Argentina team who got their World Cup qualification campaign underway last night against Ecuador.

He will have seen a familiar face opposite him in midfield, with recent Chelsea record signing Moises Caicedo lining up opposite him.

Supporters will be grateful the duo did not get engaged in any physical moments. Instead, the 21-year-old saved his tough tackling for Lionel Messi.

While the defending champions picked up the victory thanks to a moment of magic from the best player in the world, Romero put in a resolute performance at the back to help his side keep the clean sheet.

The Tottenham man has started strong this season, and Fernandez was seemingly impressed beyond belief by what he did on international duty.

He commented on his Instagram post: “The best central [defender] in the world.”

Chelsea supporters will certainly take some issue with praise of a rival the way Fernandez has done, whether they represent the same national team or not.

Thiago Silva has established himself as one of the best in the world in the position, and this form has continued into his time at Stamford Bridge.

They also have the very talented youngster Levi Colwill coming through the ranks, who many Chelsea fans would not swap for Romero if offered the chance.
