Gabby Agbonlahor has noticed Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson keeps making a technical mistake when it comes to his shooting.
Nicolas Jackson, 22, is increasingly under the spotlight now after his start at Chelsea.
The centre-forward did receive some praise in the opening weeks for some eye-catching performances, but the critics are emerging because of one goal in seven appearances so far this campaign.
He’s a new player in a new league trying to settle into a struggling Chelsea line-up, but his end product is really letting him down right now. The Premier League’s official website records he’s already missed seven big chances this season, with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland the only player to miss more (nine).
TalkSPORT pundit Agbonlahor has spotted Chelsea striker Jackson is shooting from incorrect positions.
We’ve noticed the pressure is starting to get to him and he’s desperate to score.
“I feel like Jackson up-front is a bit erratic. I feel like he shoots from the wrong angles… Jackson’s got five booking already,” Agbonlahor told talkSPORT.
Jackson finished last season with a flurry of goals for Villarreal, scoring nine goals in eight games at the back end. He’s yet to find that form at Chelsea, though.
We agree the Senegal international is quite erratic in front of goal and needs to find some composure.
With more experience at this level, we’re optimistic he’ll settle and find that ruthlessness around the box.
Nobody thought Chelsea had signed the finished article when Jackson arrived in the summer, but he’s a victim of his own success across the pre-season schedule. Let’s see where he’s at a few months further down the line.
