'He is very good': Mauricio Pochettino says one Chelsea player is playing really well this season

Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has claimed he has been very impressed by Thiago Silva this season.

He said in his pre-match press conference that data has suggested that a backline consisting of the Brazilian is actually one of the best in the league right now.

Sunday saw more misery piled on the Blues, with Silva never shy to show his emotions on the pitch as to what has gone on.recently.at Stamford Bridge.

His wife has also recently taken to social media to share her discontent at the bad form that is currently on show in West London.

Some supporters have made it clear that they would rather see the veteran defender spend a spell on the side, in order to see a new-look partnership given the opportunity to flourish.

However, this looks like it may still be some time away, with his data suggesting that the club are doing well enough with Silva as part of their backline.

He said: “Thiago is already doing well. The way we want to play and the moment we recover some offensive players, he is very good.

“He is strong, you need a strong defensive line, the date we have, we are one of the best in the league. When you have an offensive player in front sometimes you don’t need an offensive full back.”

Silva’s ever presence in the league has led to Levi Colwill playing the majority of his minutes in a left-back role.

Despite him obviously being able to play in that role, it is widely expected that he will be able to perform to his best when he is given an opportunity to play in the middle of defence.
