‘Really good player’: Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola praises £32m Chelsea man before today’s game

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola has heaped praise on Nicolas Jackson ahead of his side’s game against Chelsea later today.

Nicolas Jackson and Chelsea travel to the Vitality Stadium to take on Bournemouth this afternoon and Iraola has described the striker as a “really good player” going into the encounter.

On Jackson, the Cherries boss told the Daily Echo: “I faced him with Villarreal. He is a very, very good player. He has the threat with his speed to attack the spaces. But he is very good also when he receives, turns and attacks one against one.

“I think he will provide not only the goals, but a lot of chances. He will work well with the other forwards. I think he is a really good player.”

Jackson will be hoping that he can help Mauricio Pochettino’s side to get back on track following their surprise 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest just before the international break.

The 22-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge over the summer in a £32m deal, joining from La Liga outfit Villarreal.

Nicolas Jackson has room for improvement

At times this season, Jackson has looked like a really good player. He has been excellent at running at defenders with the ball and taking them on.

According to WhoScored, the Senegal international is currently completing 2.5 dribbles per Premier League game. Only Cole Palmer has a higher average (three) in Chelsea’s squad, but the 21-year-old has played just one match for the Blues so far.

In front of goal, though, Jackson has not been too convincing. He has found the back of the net on just one occasion since joining Chelsea, which came against newly-promoted Luton Town, and missed an absolute sitter in the 1-0 loss against Forest.

It is an area of his game that he certainly needs to improve. If the former Villarreal man can do that, then Pochettino could have an extremely dangerous forward at his disposal this season.
