Report: Mauricio Pochettino was ready to consider playing 30-year-old for Chelsea this season, then he left
Reports from Italy have claimed that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino was actually considering playing Romelu Lukaku in his squad this season.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, the boss had an agreement with the club that he could use him before he made his late loan move to Roma.
For the second summer transfer window in a row, a Lukaku saga dominated the headlines at various points.

However, this time it was more of a case of if anyone actually wanted to sign the 30-year-old. His options were quickly becoming limited.
Both Juventus and Inter Milan had offers withdrew at various stages, with his former club feeling outraged that he had negotiated with the other Italian side.
Pochettino was happy to play Lukaku
With only an offer to Saudi Arabia looking really on the table, there was a genuine possibility that the Belgium international was going to have to stay at Stamford Bridge.
He had made no effort to be involved with his parent club. He was training with the youngsters after not being selected to represent the club on their tour of the United States in pre-season.
However, it has now been claimed that Pochettino was ready to offer a way back for Lukaku at Stamford Bridge for this season.

Despite that, he has now made the move to Roma, where he will link up with former manager Jose Mourinho for this season.
As for Chelsea, they will be hoping the imminent return to fitness for Armando Broja will see him provide competition to Nicolas Jackson.
