‘A lot of money’: 18-year-old says Chelsea offered him huge money to join this summer, but he rejected them
Club Brugge starlet Antonio Nusa has admitted that he was offered huge money to join Chelsea this summer.
He told TV2 though that he is not focused on the finances of football, and therefore was not interested in the switch at this stage of his career.
Despite being just 18, the player has already gained a lot of attention for his abilities showing in Belgium and indeed Europe.
Chelsea were one of the sides who have registered an interest, and even made a bid to sign him on deadline day.
However, this did not come to fruition, with their only deadline day addition being the one of Cole Palmer.
Now, he has claimed he was offered a large amount of money to make the switch to Stamford Bridge.
Nusa offered big money to join Chelsea
He said: “I already knew that it wasn’t going to happen now. But then the money came on the table. Then it is seen in a slightly different way.
“We had to have another conversation when the money arrived, but we were on the same page, so there was no problem there. I knew what to do anyway, so it was fine.
“I want to be a footballer, but not just a footballer. I and those around me want to create the best career possible. I have to make the right choices. I went to Bruges. It happened very quickly, I left suddenly. Now I’m in a situation where I want the next step, when it happens, to be something I’ve really thought through. I want to find what is right for me. It is important to me. I think about what is best for me.
“It is a lot of money. Much money. But I try not to think about it too much. I can’t focus on it, like. I don’t think it’s good for me.”
It remains to be seen whether the Blues move again for the young star in a future transfer window.
