2023/24 Power Rankings 1-10: Chelsea’s best players so far this season ranked

With the Premier League firmly within their break from fixtures due to internationals going on, it is a great time to have a look back at the beginning of the season.

After a rough start to life under Mauricio Pochettino, the Blues are beginning to turn things around, moving up the table for the first time in a long while.

Despite a tricky run of fixtures to come in a few weeks’ time, there is reason for cautious optimism at least.

Here’s The Chelsea Chronicle’s Power Rankings for the 2023/24 season so far.

1) Conor Gallagher

The undoubted star of the season so far for Chelsea, Gallagher has proven exactly why he was kept during the last transfer window.

Despite the quality and pricetags of those around him, the Englishman himself has stood out on multiple occasions.

Donning the armband on multiple occasions, Gallagher is living up the new expectations on his game.

2) Raheem Sterling

After a poor first season in Blue, Sterling is looking revitalized back amongst the starters this year.

He is the club’s top scorer in the league this season, with three goals so far this campaign.

A fresh version of the 28-year-old is extremely dangerous to go up against, and this has been at Chelsea’s advantage this season.

3) Axel Disasi

Arguably the summer signing with the least hype about him this season, Disasi actually ranks the highest amongst the additions so far this season.

He has been an ever-present at the back as part of a team that have been ranking high in a lot of defensive statistics.

Even with players like Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana to return, Disasi will be a difficult man to drop.

4) Levi Colwill

Another defender who has impressed in his first real season at Chelsea is Colwill, although slightly out of his usual position.

However, he is getting more comfortable every week as the left-sided defender.

With him now a full England international, things are really looking up for one of the most promising youngsters in world football.

5) Cole Palmer

Despite only starting three games for the club, Palmer has become one of the most important players in the side right now.

He has contributed to a goal in every game so far this season, and this has made him undroppable so far.

With him converting from the spot in the last game, Chelsea may well have their new penalty taker too.

6) Robert Sanchez

With Kepa Arrizabalaga’s departure, a new first team goalkeeper was an essential.

Starting every game so far this season, Sanchez has taken that role on with authority, sitting near the top of clean sheets stats.

His passing has proven far better than many expected too, and this has coincided with a strong start to life in West London.

7) Mykhailo Mudryk

It’s fair to say that Mudryk’s start to life at Chelsea has gone about as badly as it could have.

However, this season has seen vast improvement in his performances on the whole.

The relief that lifted off him when he scored his first goal for the club was obvious, and hopefully can be carried on to the rest of the season.

8) Moises Caicedo

There is plenty of pressure on a £115m signing in the Premier League these days, and Caicedo’s debut showed signs of this.

However, since then he has been imperious in the middle of the park, forming a strong triangle already.

With bigger tests to come, there is still plenty to prove for the former Brighton man.

9) Enzo Fernandez

Fittingly, Caicedo is quickly followed by Fernandez, who has seemed to now find his strongest position.

He did not look fully suited to the number 10 role, and now is he forming a real connection with the Ecuadorian and Gallagher.

However, he will know himself he can provide even more, particularly in the final third for Chelsea.

10) Marc Cucurella

The surprise inclusion on this list comes right at the end, with Cucurella doing his best to revive his Chelsea career.

Out of position at right-back, the Spaniard has put in some strong performances when given the chance.

With strong competition on both sides, Cucurella has only added to Pochettino’s selection queries.
