Chelsea fans are now all saying the same thing after Noni Madueke’s first PL start vs Brentford

Chelsea winger Noni Madueke made his first Premier League start of the season against Brentford yesterday.

Noni Madueke came close to scoring in the first half of his side’s 2-0 defeat to Brentford, with his effort hitting the woodwork, but Chelsea supporters were not impressed with his overall performance on the day.

The 21-year-old got his chance after Mykhailo Mudryk was left out of the squad because of injury, but it looks like fans feel that he did not take it.

“Madueke didn’t take his chance today,” One Chelsea fan said on the social media platform X.

Another said: “Madueke with like 2 bright moments and nothing other than that.”

Noni Madueke deserves more opportunities

Honestly, we do not think Madueke was the worst player on the Stamford Bridge pitch yesterday.

He sort of disappeared in the second half, but the England U21 international looked really bright at times in the first 45 minutes of the game.

As well as coming close to scoring, Madueke also made two key passes during the match, according to WhoScored. Only Cole Palmer (four) made more.

The former PSV Eindhoven man is still young and has not played too often this season. With more time to develop and minutes on the pitch, he could become a good player for Chelsea.

Ultimately, we do not think Chelsea supporters should give up on Madueke just yet.

The Blues take on Blackburn Rovers in the Carabao Cup at home next, which could be a great opportunity for Madueke to gain more minutes. And if the winger performs, maybe he will be in with a shout to start against Tottenham Hotspur next Monday, especially if Mudryk is still out injured.

Could things have gone better for Madueke in the London derby defeat to Brentford? Yes. But it was hardly the worst performance Stamford Bridge has ever seen.

Madueke has a lot of potential, according to Chelsea legend Pat Nevin, but he is going to need time to fulfil it.
