Report: Champions League club now set to go ‘all out’ to beat Chelsea to £26m player

Reports from Spain have claimed that Barcelona are now going to put in an almighty effort to sign Gabriel Moscardo when the transfer window opens again.

According to Sport, there is a real desire to bring him in at the request of Deco, who is working as sporting director at the club.

Both sides were very keen to complete a deal to sign Moscardo late in the summer just gone, with him impressing at Corinthians in recent months.

A price of around £26m is being quoted for a potential move, and it really did look as if Chelsea were going to add him to their ranks on deadline day.

They had already brought in Cole Palmer from Manchester City on the final day of the window. He has gone on to impress in his early outings in Royal Blue.

However, in order to make more they were needing to get rid of some of the players already in their ranks.

They accepted a bid to let Ian Maatsen leave in the final hours of the window to Burnley, however the player himself made it clear that he wouldn’t be going anywhere.

There were also still hopes to get a good price for Conor Gallagher, however no side reached the amount that they were hoping for in order to let him go.

Many will be thankful they did not make this move, with him performing to a great standard in the weeks since the window closed.

It remains unclear as to whether the Blues are going to re-enter the market to attempt to sign the player, especially with their midfield options looking extremely strong for the future.
