Alan Brazil claims he's never seen £50m Chelsea player perform as well as he is right now
Alan Brazil and Glenn Hoddle have had an intriguing conversation about Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling.
There’s certainly a lot of talk right now around Raheem Sterling, both for good and bad reasons.
First of all, the 28-year-old attacker is being rightfully praised from several angles because of his eye-catching form. Speaking via The Game Football Podcast this week, Tony Cascarino said that Sterling’s looked like a new player in such good touch.
However, the bad perspective is that the winger’s still not convinced England manager Gareth Southgate to recall him to the national squad. Speaking via the It’s All Kicking Off Podcast this week, Chris Sutton shared his disagreement that Marcus Rashford’s in the latest England camp over Sterling.

Peak form
TalkSPORT’s Alan Brazil has made the pretty bold claim that he’s never seen Sterling play better than he is right now for Chelsea.
He’s delivering a glowing verdict on the £50million Blues star (The Guardian) while in conversation with Glenn Hoddle.
Brazil told talkSPORT: “Sterling, I don’t think I’ve seen him play any better than he’s playing at the moment.
Hoddle replied: “I was at the Bridge at the weekend. Sterling was excellent, he looked sharper than I’ve seen him for a long, long time.
Brazil added: “I’m not having a go at him. Trust me, I’m not. I hope Gareth [Southgate] goes on to win something, I think the squad he has got, they have to be favourites for the Euros and they should win it. But I don’t get it – why he’s not in the squad.
Hoddle said: “I don’t know if something has happened behind the scenes, probably something has happened, because at the moment there are times I think Sterling wasn’t playing so well when he was put in the squad. But at the moment since Mauricio has came in he has looked sharp.”
Raheem Sterling
This is definitely the best version we’ve seen of Sterling in Chelsea colours, but he’ll need to continue and improve for a longer period to reach career-best form.
Let’s remember just how scintillating he was for spells when he burst on the scene at Liverpool as a youngster. He had a 31-goal season back in the 2019/20 campaign for Manchester City. In addition, he’s been superb in the past at international tournaments for England.
If Sterling can play to his full potential, Mauricio Pochettino’s XI immediately does start to look a lot stronge.
