'Chelsea are convinced': Blues are so confident 21-year-old has a huge future ahead of him - journalist

Chelsea are absolutely convinced that one of their players has a huge future ahead of him.

That is according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who has been speaking to GiveMeSport.

Chelsea have brought in a lot of young players recently, including the likes of Moises Caicedo, Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer.

In recents weeks, Jackson and Palmer have really delivered for Mauricio Pochettino‘s side.

The former has four goals in his last two games, which includes a hat-trick against Tottenham Hotspur, while the latter has scored all four of the penalties he has taken this season.

Chelsea convinced Cole Palmer has a big future

It really has been a great start to life at Chelsea for Palmer. And Jacobs has now told GiveMeSport that the Blues believe that the 21-year-old is going to go far in the game.

The journalist said: “There was a moment in Chelsea’s draw with [Manchester] City where he just nonchalantly walked into a huddle of opposition players and Erling Haaland had to push him away a bit like an angry bouncer.

“Pochettino will quite like that I think. He will want to see more players show a bit of an edge on the field. But more importantly Palmer has a coolness about him as well. This is why Chelsea are convinced he has a huge future ahead of him at the club.”

How far can Cole Palmer go?

From what he has shown at Chelsea so far, Palmer definitely has the potential to become a top player.

They way the attacker has come in to a big club and just started influencing games despite being so young is amazing.

Palmer is now a full England international as well after making his debut for the Three Lions in their 2-0 win against Malta on Friday. It is clear to see, then, that he is heading down the right path.

With all of that being said, it is still early days and it is important not to get too carried away. At 21, there is obviously still room for improvement and while he has made a huge impact for Chelsea, Palmer is actually yet to score a goal from open play.

The way the former City man, who is in WhoScored’s U21 Premier League Team of the Season so far, has been performing, he probably will soon. But it shows there is still much work for Palmer to do for him to reach his potential.
