'He does that so well': Martin Keown says 23-year-old Chelsea star in now playing in his best position
Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino is now starting to play Conor Gallagher in his best position.
That is according to Martin Keown.
We’ve seen a few individuals emerge as key players this season, including Conor Gallagher.
The 23-year-old’s started every single Premier League game this season, even wearing the captain’s armband on a few occasions.

Best position
Martin Keown insists that Gallagher is most suited to a No 10 role as the advanced midfielder.
In fairness, the England international is playing there a lot more regularly in recent matches, creating three assists in his last four league games.
Mauricio Pochettino is striking a great balance in midfield with Gallagher as the advanced option in front of a Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez pivot.
“Conor Gallagher is playing in his rightful position at No 10 – precisely where he flourished on loan at Crystal Palace – particularly as Pochettino likes to play a very high pressing game,” Keown told The Daily Mail.
“Gallagher relentlessly runs from midfield to join the front three of Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling in closing down opposition defenders. He does that so well that nobody in the Premier League has regained possession in the final third more than him this season.”
Conor Gallagher silencing doubters
We’re hearing fewer and fewer critics when it comes to Gallagher this season.
Chelsea’s academy graduate is looking a lot more settled in the first team during the opening months of the campaign.
For certain, Pochettino has had a positive impact on him. We agree that this position as the advanced midfielder suits his game, too.
In data displayed by Sky Sports this week, Gallagher ranks sixth across the Premier League for most distance covered so far this season (122.43km).
He’s can be a trigger point from the No 10 position when it comes to pressing the opposition off the ball. Blues fans are really starting to appreciate his hard graft out of possession.
