'Love that': Jordan Henderson really impressed by what Cole Palmer has done in England training

Chelsea’s Cole Palmer received kind praise from Jordan Henderson after what he did in England training this week.

Cole Palmer, who’s still only 21, is mixing it with England’s main squad during the international break after receiving his first ever senior call-up.

The left-footed attacker has been rewarded by Three Lions boss Gareth Southgate for his excellent form this season, scoring four goals and making four assists in 11 Chelsea appearances.

Speaking via talkSPORT (10:39pm, 13 November), Jamie O’Hara has described rising talent Palmer as “the real deal”. We certainly feel like he’s one of the best youngsters playing in the Premier League right now!

England training

England have uploaded some training footage via their YouTube channel, which includes a look into the sessions ahead of Friday night’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Malta.

The training includes the well recognised rondo passing drill, which is when players around the outside of a circle try to keep possession from those inside it.

If you skip to two minutes into the video, Palmer’s involved in the passing drill alongside some high-profile stars.

Experienced England midfielder Jordan Henderson, who now plays his football in Saudi Arabia with Al-Ettifaq, can be heard making a positive remark about Chelsea’s youngster after an intelligent flicked pass.

When reacting to Palmer’s bit of skill in training, Henderson said: “Love it.”

Cole Palmer can cope

If you look at Palmer’s body language both on and off the pitch since he’s come to Chelsea, you’ll know he’s such a cool character with 100 per cent faith in his own ability.

He’s joined up with the England camp to train, and hopefully play, alongside the country’s biggest stars. We’re pretty certain he’ll continue to take everything in his stride with minimal fuss, though.

The youngster has done everything right in a few months at Chelsea to convince Mauricio Pochettino of his ability. Now, he’s got to do the same with Southgate at England.
