‘Over the top’: Chris Sutton suggests Chelsea man should be banned after what happened vs Manchester City
Pundit Chris Sutton has called for Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino to be banned following this weekend’s game against Manchester City.
He told ‘It’s all Kicking Off’ that he believes an example should be made of the Argentine after his demonstrations with officials on Sunday.
Pochettino was riled up at full-time of Chelsea’s excellent 4-4 draw with the Champions, with the game halted as the hosts looked to break away right at the death.

There were also questions asked of the penalty Manchester City were awarded in the first half when Marc Cucurella brought down Erling Haaland.
Pochettino’s distate for the decisions culminated in a yellow card, although Sutton believes it should be more.
He said: “I think this season has seemed worse than ever in terms of Premier League managers attacking referees, there are a lot of issues with VAR and a lot of decisions have been questionable this season, but the reaction of Premier League managers have been over the top.
Pochettino potential ban
“The biggest thing is that further down the chain – so Pochettino shouting in a fourth official’s face – that will have consequences down the leagues because people will think it’s the norm if Pochettino is a good guy, if he can do that, that’s the norm.
“It will have a knock on effect and you think grassroots referees, there are cases of them being attacked or verbally abused, so Premier League managers have a great responsibility and there is a line, and many have crossed it this season.
“Really there needs to be severe bans on Premier League managers behaving in that manner, simply because of the effect it will have on referees further down the chain.”
Chelsea have recently avoided a suspension for Raheem Sterling, after he was investigated for throwing an item into the crowd that had been thrown by Tottenham fans last week.
