£23m midfielder who Chelsea reportedly wanted now spotted at Stamford Bridge for win vs Sheffield United

One player who Chelsea reportedly wanted to sign over the previous summer transfer window has now been seen at Stamford Bridge for the club’s last Premier League game.

RB Salzburg youngster Lucas Gourna-Douath took to Twitter to film his view from the stands of the Blues’ 2-0 win over Sheffield United on Saturday.

Mauricio Pochettino saw his side return to winning ways at Stamford Bridge in a game that will slightly ease the pressure on the manager following a rough spell.

Cole Palmer was at his best yet again, scoring the first before setting up Nicolas Jackson for his seventh goal for the club.

The biggest story before the game was if Chelsea fans were going to be able to see summer signing Christopher Nkunku take to the pitch in a competitive setting for the first time since joining.

While perhaps a hunger in West London to see his debut, he was ultimately not needed and the risk of reoccurrence could be avoided.

Another interesting party who was present in the stadium though actually came in the stands. Gourna-Douath posted a video of himself from the crowd for the comfortable victory.

It was only back in 2021 where the Blues were last linked with signing the now 20-year-old midfielder, who was valued at the time at around £23m.

While there have been no real reports linking the player to the Blues recently, it would not be surprising to see Todd Boehly look to return to the market for a bright young star.

It has almost been the American’s mantra since taking over the club to snap up the stars of tomorrow before they are brought in by fellow elite sides, with the likes of Kendry Paez already having a lot of faith placed in them ahead of their careers at Chelsea.
