'Absolutely': Ian Wright and Roy Keane both in agreement over £50m Chelsea player

Ian Wright and Roy Keane are both in agreement when it comes to Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling.

Despite a big struggle for Chelsea to find any consistency this season, Raheem Sterling is enjoying a much brighter second year at Stamford Bridge.

The £50million Blues attacker (Daily Mail) has six goals and three assists in 17 appearances across all competitions this campaign.

Remarkably, it’s not been enough to get him back into Gareth Southgate’s England squad, which has left most people scratching their heads.

England recall

Pundits Ian Wright and Roy Keane agree that Sterling should be back in the England fold ahead of next summer’s Euro 2024 tournament. In fact, they would both put him in the starting XI as the left-winger.

When asked if he would start Sterling on England’s left wing over Jack Grealish, Marcus Rashford and Phil Foden, Wright told The Overlap: “Yeah, with the experience and the way he’s playing, absolutely… I’d probably go with Raheem, depending on how Anthony Gordon continues to go.”

When asked who he would pick to start on England’s left wing, Keane replied: “I wouldn’t be against Sterling going in there.”

Jamie Carragher also added: “I think Gareth will pick Rashford. I think he’s got that spot at the minute.”

Raheem Sterling banging on the door louder and louder

Chelsea’s wide man can only focus on his club form and hope this mess with England is sorted.

Speaking via on the  It’s All Kicking Off podcast last month, Chris Sutton expressed his shock at Sterling’s latest international snub in November.

We’re mystified like everyone to Southgate’s reasoning, so perhaps there’s something behind closed doors that everyone’s unaware of.

Chelsea supporters will just hope it serves as extra motivation for Sterling to perform for his club.

He’s raised his game from last season and looks very sharp out there, but we’d love just a bit more consistency in the final third.
