What Cole Palmer did at full-time last night that left Newcastle supporters fuming
Chelsea star Cole Palmer was one of the players who couldn’t contain their celebrations at the dramatic nature the Blues picked up victory in the EFL Cup last night.
The Blues booked their place in the final four of the competition in dramatic circumstances, as they won on penalties against Newcastle United.
It looked as if they were heading out late in the day, when they were trailing at Stamford Bridge to a resilient Newcastle side who had taken advantage of an opportunity presented to them by a Benoit Badiashile error.

However, Mykhailo Mudryk pounced on an equally poor moment at the back to level proceedings, and send the game to a shootout.
Here, Palmer led the way with a cool finish, being sure to let the Newcastle fans behind the goal know that he had found the net.
These demonstrations continued after the final whistle too. A video on ‘The Magpie Channel’s’ TikTok shows what he did next.
Palmer angers Newcastle fans
The England international danced along to Madness’ ‘One Step Beyond’, whilst consistently rattling a few individuals in particular in the away end.
While the 90 minutes as a whole were certainly not Palmer’s best, the fact that he stepped up and set the tone for the rest of the shootout to go their way.
Finding the bottom corner certainly made things easier for Conor Gallagher, Christopher Nkunku and Mudryk who followed him, and all found the net with conviction.
The 21-year-old will now be really excited at the prospect of featuring as a starter alongside Nkunku, who was brought on to make his debut last night.
Just the presence of the player alone was enough to bring the Stamford Bridge faithful back into the game, just as it looked as if they were going to beginning to lose faith they could get a result.
