‘A major surprise’: Sky pundit can’t believe what he saw from 21-year-old Chelsea player in first half tonight
Pundit Andy Hinchcliffe has claimed that he was left in disbelief at what he saw from one Chelsea player in the first half tonight.
He said during his commentary for Sky Sports that he was stunned that Cole Palmer had not found the net at least once as the Blues went into the break a goal down against Middlesbrough.
Chelsea were beaten 1-0 in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final at the Riverside, however many watching will have been in disbelief at how that was the case.

Palmer started in the striker position tonight, with Mauricio Pochettino seeming not to trust Armando Broja in the number nine role.
The experiment has been used once before against Arsenal, however the magnitude of opponents on that day brought a completely different challenge for the Blues.
While the position may not have suited him, a host of bad misses can only be put down to his own fault on a rough night for the 21-year-old.
Hinchcliffe stunned at Palmer
Hinchcliffe was left in disbelief after the first and second big chance missed.
He said: “Massive let off. Chelsea have struggled to get anything going. He reads it ever so well, sets himself up, just trying to drift it into that far right post. It’s a major surprise he’s missed from there.”
“You wonder if he’s trying to catch the goalkeeper out, but of course you’ve got to hit the target to beat the ‘keeper.”
After the real big miss from close range, he said: “It’s incredible because he seems to anticipated the mistake but it’s incredible that he gets underneath it.
“Palmer is not surprised by the ball coming back at him, he is set up and he should just be tucking that home but again he’s missed the target.”
It can almost certainly be put down to an off night, but it will be frustrating for fans that this has come in the biggest game of the season so far.
