'Big future': Joe Cole is so confident 23-year-old Chelsea player can become like former Liverpool captain
Chelsea legend Joe Cole has made a big prediction about one of his former club’s players.
Joe Cole was discussing Conor Gallagher when launching the Green Football Weekend at Wembley Stadium, with the Evening Standard relaying his words, and claimed that the midfielder could become Chelsea‘s very own version of Jordan Henderson.
The former Liverpool captain was an incredibly important player under Jurgen Klopp, helping the German’s side to win multiple honours during his time at Anfield, including the Premier League and Champions League.
In 2022, Henderson’s Liverpool beat Chelsea in the finals of both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
Gallagher is a long way off having a trophy cabinet like the new Ajax player’s. But at 23, his career is still ahead of him.

Cole is confident that Gallagher can become Chelsea’s Henderson.
On the Englishman, the former winger said: “Conor Gallagher is a crucial one and is the face of the club. He’s a captain in the leadership group, so to take him out of the team now would not be good.
“If I was advising him, I’d tell him he has a big future at Chelsea. I think what Jordan Henderson was to Liverpool, he can be that for Chelsea.”

Gallagher is probably similar to Henderson in the sense that the two have not always got the credit that they deserve.
They are never the flashiest footballers in their squads, but the two England internationals are brilliant at doing the less glamorous things.
Gallagher, for example, is in the top 10 Premier League players for tackles this season, making 54, according to the division’s official website.
Chelsea could lose that soon, though, with the midfielder’s contract expiring next year. A bid arrives, and the club will have a decision to make.
