Chelsea could still make a huge offer to sign Premier League star at the end of the season – journalist

Journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed that Chelsea could still make an absolutely huge offer to sign one Premier League player at the end of the season.

He told Simon Phillips’ Substack that there is a chance they look to raid Brighton yet again in order to secure the signing of Evan Ferguson in the summer.

The Blues are reportedly keen on adding a striker to their ranks after not being fully convinced by what they have seen by Nicolas Jackson and Armando Broja so far this season.

It has been claimed that their number one target for the signing is Victor Osimhen, however they are aware of the financial issues that surround getting that deal done at the end of the campaign.

Jacobs has claimed this is why they are still considering a move for Ferguson in the summer.

He said: “Chelsea are naturally exploring goalscoring options. There is an acceptance that Victor Osimhen won’t be possible in January. Even if his release clause was triggered, Osimhen is focused on AFCON with Nigeria and wants to play in the Champions League with Napoli in the second-half of the season.

Chelsea could move for Ferguson

“Ivan Toney is also expected to stay at Brentford in January. The Brentford striker has been discussed at Chelsea but is not necessarily top of the the list as it stands.

“Evan Ferguson is another option appreciated. It is not beyond the realms of possibility Chelsea try to raid Brighton once again this summer. But Ferguson did only recently sign a new long-term deal.”

The Blues have been keen to do business with Brighton over the last few transfer windows, with them already spending big money on Seagulls of the past.

The most recent example of this has been the club-record addition of Moises Caicedo, who has been improving every single week since he made the move to Stamford Bridge.
