‘Great’: Gary Lineker thinks attacker Chelsea let leave is actually better than Victor Osimhen

Gary Lineker has now claimed that there is an attacker in world football who Chelsea let go who is actually better than Victor Osimhen.

He took to Twitter to state that Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is actually a better player from the continent of Africa, after an article listed the Nigerian as the best player currently representing his nation at the African Cup of Nations.

Osimhen has been widely referred to as the club’s number one transfer target, although that deal doesn’t look likely to be complete this month.

Instead, it has been claimed that the deal is likely to be done at the end of the season, with them perhaps looking to start negotiations before the window begins.

A deal is likely to cost the Blues another big fee, although they will be under the impression that they are getting one of the best players in world football if they do complete the signing.

In fact, praise as gone as far as referring to him as the best player from Africa in football right now, a claim which is certainly prestigious.

Lineker rates Salah above Osimhen

However, Lineker has rushed to disagree with that claim, saying instead that he believes that that crown belongs to Salah.

Replying to a Tweet referring to Osimhen as the best player from Africa, he said: “Great though he is, I fear you have forgotten a certain Mohamed Salah.”

Salah has been one of the best players in the Premier League in the last decade, and has gone on leaps and bounds from the player who the Blues let go all that time ago.

While the two of them represent their nations at AFCON, Nicolas Jackson is also there representing Senegal, meaning he is unavailable for selection for Chelsea in the coming weeks.
