'I don't agree with that': Joe Cole urges Todd Boehly not to sell 23-year-old Chelsea player

Chelsea legend Joe Cole has a warning for Todd Boehly and the rest of the decision-makers at Stamford Bridge.

Journalist David Ornstein recently said that he would not rule out Chelsea selling Conor Gallagher before Thursday.

However, Joe Cole has told football.london that he is not on board with the idea of his former club allowing Gallagher to leave.

The midfielder has been key for the Blues this season, captaining them on multiple occasions.

That has not stopped constant speculation about him departing Stamford Bridge, though.

Joe Cole urges Chelsea not to sell Conor Gallagher

Cole does not want to see Gallagher leave Mauricio Pochettino‘s side this week.

On the 23-year-old, the retired winger said: “Conor Gallagher is a massive part of the club at the moment and that is something that should be valued and nurtured, not thrown out the door just to get a few quid in. I don’t agree with that.

“Decisions like the Conor Gallagher one, I’m sure the people in charge have really, really considered it but you need to have someone in there that can say, ‘no, no, you can’t let him go. You particularly can’t let him go to Tottenham.’ “

Chelsea should not sell Conor Gallagher this late in the transfer window

It was never a good idea selling Gallagher this month and more so now given what stage we are at in the transfer window.

As mentioned earlier, the England international is an important member of Chelsea’s squad at this moment in time.

He is doing a lot of work in the middle of the park and in the final third with his pressing. Only five players have made more tackles in the Premier League than Gallagher, according to the division’s official website.

Chelsea have also had a lot of injury problems this season, including in midfield. It just does not make sense for the Blues to think about selling Gallagher and actually go through with it. The summer could be a different story if his contract has not been renewed by then, but for now, no.
