'In the right place': £100m player's teammate is urging him to stay at club despite Chelsea interest

Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder James Milner has a message for one reported Chelsea target.

His teammate Evan Ferguson is one striker who Chelsea are interested in, according to the Evening Standard.

However, James Milner has told TNT Sports that Brighton is the right place for the 19-year-old at this moment in time.

If Chelsea want to sign Ferguson, he will not come cheap.

Back in August, FootballTransfers claimed that Brighton value the forward at £100m.

James Milner confident Brighton is the right place for Evan Ferguson

While Chelsea are one of the biggest clubs in the world and an attractive destination for most, Milner is urging Ferguson to remain at the Amex Stadium.

On the Republic of Ireland international, who he thinks is a “phenomenal” finisher, the former Liverpool man said: “His attitude is fantastic but his ability is so good. It’s important that we protect him.

“There’s hype around him, as there should be, but he’s definitely in the right place at this moment in time and hopefully he’ll keep banging them in for us.”

Evan Ferguson developing well at Brighton

There really is not a rush for Ferguson to leave Brighton and join Chelsea now or in the summer.

Things are going really well for him at the Amex. And still only 19 years of age, the striker has plenty of time left in his career to get a move to the Blues or another English giant.

He is playing regularly for Brighton at the moment, making 25 appearances in all competitions so far, and is working under a brilliant coach in Roberto De Zerbi.

The Seagulls are also above Chelsea in the Premier League table at present and are still in the Europa League. It is another reason for him to reject Mauricio Pochettino‘s side.
