'The manager': Noni Madueke now shares what Mauricio Pochettino is pushing him to work on at Chelsea
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is not actually putting pressure on Noni Madueke to score goals.
Noni Madueke has not found the back of the net on too many occasions at Chelsea since joining the club from PSV Eindhoven last January, but the winger has told the Blues’ official website that Mauricio Pochettino is trying to help him improve other areas of his game.
Last season, Madueke only managed the one goal for Chelsea, though he was only at Stamford Bridge for the second part of it.
This term, the 21-year-old has netted three times in all competitions for the Blues, with his most recent strike being described as “brilliant” by Luton Town manager Rob Edwards.
What Mauricio Pochettino wants from Noni Madueke
Madueke says Pochettino is more concerned about him connecting to the team and working hard than scoring goals.
“The manager is not so much on me about scoring goals, but being as connected with the team as possible and working hard,” the England U21 international said after the Luton match.
“I try to make that my foundation to build on at the start of the game. I know that if I do that then my individual quality will shine through a lot of time. I’m chuffed with the goal for sure.”

Noni Madueke will need to score more goals
If Madueke continues to get more starts, then he will need to become a more consistent goalscorer, especially if Chelsea do not go on to sign a new striker this month.
With the Blues currently sitting 10th in the Premier League, Pochettino really needs his attackers to deliver to keep the club’s slim hopes of Champions League qualification alive.
In Chelsea’s last couple of games, Madueke has been and, as a result, should retain his place in the Argentine’s starting XI.
But to stay there in the long run, the former PSV man is probably going to have to continue chipping in with goals.
