'You could argue': ESPN pundit now claims 21-year-old has actually been Chelsea's best signing
Chelsea have made so many signings since being taken over by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.
And for former Liverpool player Steve Nicol, who has been speaking on ESPN FC, it is quite clear who the best addition has been.
Last summer, Chelsea brought in the likes of Moises Caicedo and Cole Palmer, while in the previous January transfer window, they signed Enzo Fernandez.
This month could also be a busy one for the club, who continue to be linked with several different strikers.
According to journalist Simon Phillips, Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez is one name that they are currently considering.
Steve Nicol on Chelsea’s best signing
Nicol believes Palmer is the best signing Chelsea have made under Boehly and Clearlake.
On the Blues’ recent transfer business, the ESPN pundit said: “You could argue that of all the signings they’ve made and how many is it, 22? And you said 47 million, but he’s probably the best signing they’ve made.
“Eight goals, six assists. I mean Antony at [Manchester] United was 80 something million, so yeah, that’s turning out to be, I think, probably their best signing.”

Cole Palmer has been Chelsea’s best signing
Unlike a lot of Chelsea’s other additions from the last few transfer windows, Palmer has been able to make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge.
The 21-year-old England star has already scored eight goals and provided four assists in the Premier League.
As of now, he is easily Mauricio Pochettino‘s most important attacker, perhaps even his most important player.
Chelsea’s new ownership have got a lot wrong, with the sacking of Thomas Tuchel still arguably the biggest mistake that they have made so far. However, deciding to spend money on Palmer is definitely something that Boehly and Co deserve credit for.
Chelsea need more signings like him if they want to return to the top of European football again.
