'The missing piece': Graeme Souness suggests 27-year-old player would be a brilliant signing for Chelsea
Brentford striker Ivan Toney would be a brilliant signing for either Chelsea or Arsenal this month.
That is according to pundit Graeme Souness.
Ivan Toney, 27, will finally return to action today after an eighth-month ban for breaching betting rules. It’s been confirmed he will start and captain Brentford in Saturday evening’s Premier League clash versus Nottingham Forest.
However, there’s a lot of talk about him in the transfer rumour mill regarding his future.

Sky Sports claimed a couple of months ago that Brentford would demand £100 million to sell Toney amid interest from both Chelsea and Arsenal.
Interestingly, the English striker has publicly spoken out this week about his future.
Speaking an interview with Sky Sports, Toney admitted that he would like to play for a top club that fights for trophies.
Meanwhile, journalist Simon Phillips recently claimed via his Substack that Chelsea want to monitor Toney’s performances following a long layout before going all in to sign him.
Ivan Toney could be missing piece for Chelsea or Arsenal
Souness has suggested that Brentford’s centre-forward, who’s a proven goalscorer in the Premier League, could be the answer for Chelsea or Arsenal.
“I can understand why Ivan Toney is openly declaring he wants to move to a big club now,” Souness told The Daily Mail.
“He’s had to travel down the road a bit in football and wasn’t an instant success. Newcastle had him out on loan for three years. He’s had to work at establishing himself.
“He’s 27 — at the peak of his powers for a striker — and it’s now or never for him. You might say Brentford have looked after him during his ban but they will also get a shedload of money for him.
“I really can’t see them standing in his way — even allowing for their challenging season and the injuries they have. He could be the missing piece for Arsenal or Chelsea, who both need a different type of attacker.”
